What is the program about?

Seeds of Success is a free program for sixth to eighth students in New Haven who want to explore science, technology, engineering, math and medicine (STEMM). Through hands-on workshops, inspiring mentors, and fun leadership activities, students build confidence and discover how STEMM connects to their lives and communities.
Each participant becomes a STEMM Ambassador, designing and leading a project that makes a difference in their school or neighborhood. Led by women in STEMM, the program creates a space where young adults feel seen, supported, and empowered to dream big.
Whether you’re a student, parent, or community partner, there’s a place for you in our program. Come grow with us and help us show that New Haven students can change the world!

Planting seeds since 2015
The program was originally launched in Puerto Rico in 2015 through the non-profit organization Ciencia Puerto Rico. As of 2024, under the leadership of Dr. Giovanna Guerrero-Medina and Dr. Greetchen Díaz, 6 cohorts of 663 students have participated in Puerto Rico, and they in turn have impacted over 96,700 people through their STEMM Ambassadors projects.
The program demonstrates significant improvements in participants’ STEM attitudes and science identity, as well as in their self-perception as a leader, confidence in their ability to succeed in science, knowledge about STEM careers and opportunities, and access to STEM role models.
